How to take care of your skin after shaving?

As a beauty specialist, I am used to standing and observing the issues that common folks face, As I observe, most of the men damage their skin by not caring it properly after shaving.

Before we jump into the tips to take care of skin after shaving, we need to learn about the tips that can help you to shave smoothly and easily. So let’s start.

Tips for better and smooth shaving:

  • Hydrate your skin properly because it makes your skin smooth and easy to shave, it is recommended to shave right after showering as your skin is hydrated properly during the shower.
  • Exfoliate your skin before you shave your beard. Exfoliation removes the dead cells leaving the smooth skin behind which makes the shaving process easy and helps to avoid cutts and bumps.
  • Use a sharp blade because a nicked blade will cause more cuts and your shave will not be as clean as it should be. Do not use an old blade because it may cause infection.
  • Apply shaving foam/ gel properly and start the process with small strokes. Do not overuse the shaving gel. Do not use a thick layer of the gel as it will clog your razor and you have to rinse more often.
  • Use the razor with and against the grain to get clean shaved skin.
  • Apply aftershave when you finish.
  • Rinse your razor with warm water.
  • Take your time when you shave your beard. Otherwise, you may get cut.

Taking care of skin after Shaving:

Apply Ice cubes on your skin:

Shaving exfoliates the dead skin and can open the skin’s pores. So, you must apply ice cubes to your face as ice will shut the opened pores. Otherwise, if the pores are left open, dirt will enter and settle in the pores forming blackheads and acne.

Apply Aftershave:

After applying ice for five minutes, apply a good quality aftershave that is readily available in markets. Otherwise, you can use Aloe vera gel, Apple cider vinegar, Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, etc. Do not use aftershave that contains alcohol because shaving makes your skin dry and alcohol will make it even more drier.

Moisturise:

Shaving exfoliates your skin i.e., removes dead cells, and your skin is exposed and gets dry. So, apply a good moisturizing lotion (or cream if you have dry skin).

Sunscreen:

The most crucial part of skin care is applying sun protection, which becomes more crucial after shaving.

Never go outside after shaving without sunscreen. Because the sun rays may damage your exposed skin.

Do not use old Razor:

Do not use a razor for too long because it may contain bacteria that can cause skin infections. Always wash the razor with warm water after use. If you notice any rusting in your razor, discard it.

Conclusion:

To sum up, shaving is a time-consuming process. Take your time to do this. Always use a sharp blade. Change your razor every month. Consider applying Ice cubes, Aftershave, and moisturizer as a must.
